Skills Workshops. These workshops provide mothers, fathers and other family carers with skills and strategies for promoting their child’s development. The topics covered promote child development in the areas most affected by ASD. Developed by experts in ASD and early intervention, these workshops teach skills that complement those covered by early intervention programs and services and will give you practical strategies for how you can support your child’s development at home. For more information about the skills workshops on offer, click here. Upcoming workshops are outlined below.
First steps for learning: Connecting with your child
Learning to communicate and interact with others begins with basic skills for connecting. Skills like making eye contact and sharing attention are important for children with ASD. If your child can focus on you, and focus on something else together with you, they have taken important first steps towards further learning. In this workshop, you will learn how to promote these ‘connection’ skills in your child, and learn ways to build on these skills at home.
