HOW TO HAVE A SAY
Why is your Opinion Important?
Autism Victoria is a membership-based organization. That means we do all we can to represent the views of our members. To do this we need your comments and concerns to help us prepare future submissions and representations to government on behalf of the Autism Spectrum Disorder community in Victoria.
How can you contribute?
The Autism Victoria State Council recently contracted Meredith Ward to the role of Public Relations and Government Liaison. Meredith is currently compiling a portfolio of member concerns using feedback from this website, the recent Autism Victoria member survey, and issue based surveys, such as the ECIS Flexible Support Package Survey below. Please use the Have a Say form to convey your individual concerns to Meredith. She can also be contacted directly by email to liaison@autismvictoria.org.au.
- Please consider providing us with feedback about our website - we are currently reviewing our website content. If you have any suggestions for new content or changes to the current content, please use the 'Issue' box in the form below and let us know.
- Early Childhood Intervention Services and Flexible Support Packages
LOBBYING GETS RESULTS! In late 2006 Autism Victoria alerted the Minister that the application process for Early Childhood Intervention Services Flexible Support Packages (ECIS FSP’s) was lengthy and difficult and that demand for packages far exceeded the number available. In response the Minister for Community Services requested the department to improve and simplify the application process. Please contact Meredith if you have any further problems accessing or using these packages.
Some other current issues you may wish to comment on include:
- The provision of funding for at least ten hours per week of early intervention program for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- The reduction of the waiting list for a multi disciplinary assessment for children suspected of having an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- The development of metropolitan and regional specialist schools or units for students, primary and secondary, with an Autism Spectrum Disorder who do not have an intellectual disability.
- Enabling access to disability supports for people with an Autism Spectrum Disorder who do not have an intellectual disability.
